Action - Bets or raises. "There's a lot of action now that the third club came up on the turn."
Ante - The amount of money needed
to get into the game. Hold 'em uses blinds.
All In - To put all of your chips into the pot.

Backdoor - Catching the turn
and river card to complete your draw.
Bad Beat - When a superior hand is beaten by an underdog hand, usually on the river.
Bet - To
put chips into the pot.
Blinds - Used in Texas Hold 'em - the equivalent of an ante. What players put in before seeing their cards.
There is a big blind and little blind, and they rotate around the table.
Board - The five community cards that are seen and can be
used by everyone playing.
Bottom Pair - A pair with the lowest card. If you have Q,3 and the flop is K,A,3 - you have flopped bottom
pair.
Burn - To discard a card before each sequence of community cards is shown.
Buy - Also: Buying the pot. To bluff by betting large,
hoping no one will follow you.
C
Call - To put in the amount of money last bet or raised. Also: See. "I'll see that action."
Check -
To not bet, passing the action on to someone else.
Check Raise - To check first, giving the impression you have nothing. Then to raise
once a person behind you bets.
Community Cards - Cards that can be used by everyone. The "board."
Connector - Hold 'em starting hand
where cards are one apart in rank. 5,6; J,Q.
D
Draw - Play a hand that could potentially become good if the right cards
come.
Drawing Dead - When, even if you were to draw the hand you want, another player's hand has you beat.

Favorite -
Hand that, statistically, should win.
Flop - The first three cards on the board, placed at the same time.
Fold - Essentially, to quit
your hand.
Gutshot - An inside straight. You have 8,9 and on the board there is 5,6. - You need a 7.
Hit - If the flop, turn, or river
helps you.
Hole Cards - Also: Pocket Cards. Cards dealt to you face down.
House - Whatever is running the game.
